The Triforce Found in Chicago

December 20, 2006 By Glenn Turner

I have Zelda on the brain, thanks to Twilight Princess and all, but I was still rather surprised to see the Triforce show up on a local newstand ad:

Underground Triforce

It turns out that Underground (warning: Flash & embedded sound) is simply an upcoming nightclub that's opening next month. Why Rockit Ranch, Underground's proprietors, decided to use the Triforce as the club's logo is utterly beyond me, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and presume they have a good reason. I will note that their reappropriational spirit doesn't stop at Zelda icons, as evidenced by their 'homages' to the Mac/PC ads listed at their YouTube account.

Shall we take start taking bets as to what old-school video game icon will be trotted out next? Alex Kidd, perhaps?
