I'm always up for a good, in-depth read about the history behind a developer or game, regardless of whether I've actually played the games discussed or not. I haven't laid my hands on Prey yet (although the demo sits, unplayed, in a buried folder on my PC), but Apogee fan site ApogeeGames.com have a nicely detailed write-up concerning the lengthy and troubled development history of Prey, including specifics about how early versions of the engine worked and info about where those who left/were fired from the project are now.
And when you're done reading about Prey, you may want to poke around the rest of the ApogeeGames site, as it houses a plethora of information about the enterprising company and its games.
