Get Powered Up in Chicago

June 24, 2005 By Glenn Turner

If you're in Chicago on Sunday (that's June 26th), I highly recommend heading to the Empty Bottle to see bitrock extraordinaires The Power-Ups. We're quite fond of them and their NES covers (as you may have previously read) and this time around they've got some new tunes, including Dr. Mario, Ghosts & Goblins, Rastan & more! It should provide a nice escape from the heat as well.

Also, there's Wired's NextFest going on this weekend at Navy Pier, which should have some good tech and hopefully some insight on future games, gaming peripherals, and general electronic entertainment. It's what we're doing this Saturday instead of garage saling, so it'd better be good!

I hope they make a CD of their live performance. That's what THE POWER-UPS I (2003) was, a recording from '03 from the Empty Bottle.

Yeah, that was the show we first wrote about (that article also contained a link to purchasing that same CD). If I recall, Mr. LeFeuvre actually purchased a copy of that show. I always meant to, but never got around to it for some stupid reason.

I always meant to go to The Powerups show.

THEN MY FRIEND LOST HIS WALLET IN JAPAN.

I've told this story before.

Indeed! And except for the mistake in the track numbers (halfway through the track numbers get off) the CD is great.

I should really get around to buying their CDs....I'm just so lazy.
