We scrutinize the whole game, what it has to say, how the separate elements effect the player, and what each game brings to the burgeoning field of interactive entertainment. Also - my ideas come from a mixture of 'thinking out of the box' (ooo what an atypical answer) and pushing my nostrils deep into any abnoxiously strong smelling chemical I come across.
