Chi-Style Drunksaling - The Drunkgamers Forum Weeks: Week #8

March 17, 2004 By Glenn Turner

The following is our eighth Chicago-Style Drunksaling post to the old Drunkgamers.com forums. If you're unfamiliar with Drunkgamers.com, occasionally they would go out drinking and go garage saling for video games and then post about it. Unitdaisy and I were inspired to do the same and posted the bulk of our first year finds in their forums, and in fact if it weren't for drunksaling you probably wouldn't be reading this site right now. We'll be posting one from the archives every other week or until the weather turns spring-like in Chicago which means that yes, we have quite a few of them. Even a few that I lost and recently recovered on an old hard drive.

This week we've actually condensed our last two garagesaling events into one fun-filled post. Why? Because both times were half-assed. Each update deserves a whole ass. And that ass is myself. In fact, I'm so much of an ass that this update never made it to the forums - this is a rare, unreleased, unfinished Chi-Style Drunksaling!! Unfortunately, it was so unfinished that unitdaisy never wrote any responses. Or maybe I just can't find her response or something. Either way, this is the only draft _I_ have. Either way, enjoy my banter being thrown at the equivalent of a brick wall...

peccaui: I spent most of my time this week protesting this week's excursion, running around yelling 'it's going to rain! i'm going to get struck by lightning and my head will blow up just like in scanners'! And indeed, most of the sellers seemed to think the same as places were packing up their trash.

peccaui: We found the following in one of those 'our house and everything in it must go' extravanganzas. All of this for $150! Unfortunately, I don't carry any bills smaller than a $1000, and he was unable to make change.

peccaui: After about three sales, we headed to our trusty thrift store where they served up an unhealthy heaping of crap.

peccaui: unitdaisy insisted that I take a picture of this.

peccaui: A few decades too late guys...

peccaui: Asstastic.

peccaui: $5? Do you have any idea how gumballs I can buy for that amount of money?

peccaui: and then this happened:

peccaui: So I ran home like a baby, leaving unitdaisy to eat lightning bolts. Well, no. That didn't happen. But I could have sworn it would! I still ran home.

Aug 24th:

peccaui: No rain this week - just sickening humidity that induced dry heaves. First up - the Uncle Fun garage sale! For those of you that are not familiar with Uncle Fun, it's a junk store. It's like a thousand of those junk drawers you keep in your house exploded and were assigned price tags. Look at this crap!

peccaui: One of these people are marked to die. Can you guess who?

peccaui: I'm supposed to put my cigarette where?

peccaui: Cultural sensitivity at its best.

peccaui: Put this in your cheek and suck on it.

peccaui: Finally - Sonic can stare at my crotch when I'm in the shower. My life is complete.

peccaui: We meandered over to the next sale, and all we found was this.

peccaui: Is that a memory card, or a new peripheral or ...?

peccaui: Intermission - unitdaisy and I stop off at a pub for a refreshing drink. Oh, and here's the find of the week. Scroll down to the end if you can't recognize the cartridge.

peccaui: One of the local thrift stores had a bit more than used diapers this week.

peccaui: Close to one of the most useless pieces of software we've found. Where are the other 'disks'?

peccaui: It's no wonder unitdaisy still doesn't have a driver's license.

peccaui: Maybe if my parents had bought me this as a kid, I wouldn't still believe that 2+2 = 5.

peccaui: (Don't tell her it's not plugged in - it'll just upset her.)

peccaui: It's a little beat up, has no AC Adapter and no controllers. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find a good home someday.

peccaui: Remember when Klax took the world by storm? I think some bullies were introducing my head to the wonders of ty-d-bowl.

peccaui: More Sega CD games. Call me Johnny Clueless, but I blacked out during the rise of 32-bit machines.

peccaui: I nearly stained myself when I saw this. (Street Fighter 3 Alpha for the Saturn, for those that need to get their eyes checked.) Then I turned it over.

peccaui: Someone is getting a beatdown for switching SF3 with a Microsoft demo disc.

peccaui: Out into the sunlight, down a few blocks and we stumbled across the following atrocity:

peccaui: Glavin!

peccaui: Lastly - which is worth your $25 (the PSX has no controllers either, and no ac adapter)? I squandered all my money on gobstoppers and cough syrup.

Find of the Week:

peccaui: Street Fighter 2 for the SNES. Can't go wrong with the classics.

Lesson of the Week:
Perhaps you can think of something - my mind is a blank slate of rage.
